An astronaut made a treasure map from space, and this man is hunting the gold

There are two things Hollywood has been reliably obsessed with for decades: treasure hunts, and space exploration. 

Discovery's new documentary series, Cooper's Treasure, combines the two in a compelling new tale, which began when one of the original Mercury 7 astronauts, Gordon Cooper, discovered anomalies — dark spots — in the ocean while searching for nuclear test sites during one of his missions. 

Cooper soon deduced that the spots were actually shipwrecks, and spent the next several decades using the information he collected while orbiting the Earth to create a document that he thought could lead to unimaginable wealth — a treasure map from space.  Read more...
