That La La Land is Bollywood-like is accepted now. Given the elaborate sets, the romance, the nostalgia, the song-and-dance sequences, it is a Bollywood film at its core.
Take the music out of La La Land and it's not half as appealing. Put the music in there, albeit an Indian kind, and let the magic unfold.
